Important notice: There is no registered company, association, or legal entity behind the Podo Beach Cup. It is an informal, community-run gathering — simply a group of beach-volleyball enthusiasts who organise free weekly tournaments for fun.
Podo Beach Cup — a free, community-run beach volleyball tournament series held at PODOBEACH, Strandbad 2, 7141 Podersdorf am See, Austria. This site is operated as a non-commercial community project. For any legal, privacy or general enquiries please use the contact form.
1. Who we are
Podo Beach Cup is an informal, community-run beach volleyball tournament series held at Podo Beach in Podersdorf am See, Austria. There is no legal entity, registered association, or company behind it — it is organised voluntarily by local players for the local community. This site is operated as a non-commercial community project. For questions about your data, contact us via the contact form.
2. What data we collect
We only collect the minimum we need to run the tournaments:
- Account data — when you sign in: your email, display name, and the optional avatar you upload.
- Team & player data — when you register a team: team name, division, and the players you add.
- Match data — scores, brackets and results from tournaments you play in.
- Contact messages — anything you write in the contact form.
- Technical data — basic request information (IP, browser, referrer) processed by our hosting provider for security and to keep the site online.
We do not sell your data, run third-party advertising trackers, or build behavioural profiles.
3. Why we process it (legal basis)
- Contract / pre-contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — to register your team, generate brackets, show live scores and contact you about an event you signed up for.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) — to keep the site secure, prevent abuse, and display public match results and a Hall of Fame for past tournaments.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) — for any optional content you actively publish (gallery photos, team avatars). You can remove this at any time.
4. Who can see it
Tournament results, brackets, team names and player names are public by nature — that's the point of a public tournament page. Your email address and account details are not public and are only visible to you and the tournament admin. We never share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
5. Processors we use
We rely on a small number of EU/EEA-compliant providers to run the site:
- Hosting & database — for storing accounts, teams and match data.
- Authentication — for signing you in via email or Google (if you choose).
- Email delivery — for transactional emails like sign-in links and event notifications.
- Weather data — Open-Meteo (no personal data sent).
Each provider acts as a data processor under our instructions and standard contractual safeguards.
6. How long we keep it
- Account data — until you ask us to delete it.
- Public tournament results — kept indefinitely as part of the public record (Hall of Fame). You can request your name be anonymised on request.
- Contact-form messages — up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Server logs — typically 14–30 days at our hosting provider.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can:
- Access a copy of your data
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Delete your account and personal data
- Object to processing or request that it be restricted
- Lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde)
Just send us a message — we'll handle it within 30 days.
8. Cookies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies and local-storage entries to keep you signed in and remember your language. We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies, so no cookie banner is needed.
9. Changes
If we materially change this policy we'll update the date at the top and, where it matters, notify registered users by email.
